DERIVATION ‘Tapirulan Illustration competition’

Here is my entry into the Tapirulan 11th Edition Illustration Competition.  Based around the theme SOS I researched into the original meaning of the Letters and were they came from.  SOS is simply the morse code digits used to signal a distress originally CQ- a general call then CQD a danger general call.  It was then changed to SOS as this was easier and clearer to be heard through the signals.  It was originally the railroad telegraphers who began working on the ships that brought there codes with them from the railroads.  Working around this information and the concept of it coming from the railroad telegraphers.  I found an interesting shape in ‘The Derivation of the Telegraph Equation’.  Using this equation as an abstract and bringing it into a part of the sails in an old sailing vessel my design produced.  Using Stick & ink combined with a mixed media.  My entry can viewed on the Tapirulan website with all the other entries here http://www.tapirulan.it/concorso-calendario/541/569/P6
